Background Information

With the development of global information technology, internet-based healthcare has gradually expanded worldwide. Data shows that since the launch of the mobile application pilot project in 2012, 17.5% of tertiary hospitals nationwide have deployed mobile applications, and it is expected that 20.3% of tertiary hospitals will plan to deploy mobile applications in the next two years.

Dedicated mobile handheld PDAs, as timely and efficient data collection terminals, apply barcode recognition and RFID technology to patient wristbands, medication labels, specimen labels, etc. By scanning label information with the PDA, the collection and uploading of information in various scenarios such as admission and discharge, clinical treatment, inspection, surgery, and emergency care can be completed quickly and accurately, achieving closed-loop management of medical orders and improving nursing safety.

Solution Overview

Cilico is the pioneer and leader in the concept of mobile nursing PDAs and is also the first in the industry to offer PDAs with highly integrated barcode scanning, UHF RFID, NFC, and other data collection functions. One device supports multiple data collection needs, helping hospitals achieve paperless and intelligent treatment and management, and solving the industry challenge of manual processing of information from the nurse station to the patient’s bedside in the final “50 meters.” The product is used in over 500 professional medical institutions across 75 countries and regions worldwide, earning widespread trust and praise from customers.

Application Scenarios

Mobile Nursing

Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Services (PIVAS)

Medical Waste Management

Clothing Management

Mobile Nursing Work Scenario:

Mobile nursing extends electronic medical records from desktop to mobile and from fixed nurse stations to mobile nurse stations. The main users are nurses, and the application scenarios include medical order execution (three inspections and seven verifications) and vital sign collection. Using barcode and RFID wristbands helps medical staff improve work efficiency and ensures patient safety and privacy protection.

Product Advantages:

Cilico’s mobile nursing PDA integrates barcode scanning and tag reading functions into one device, meeting various data collection needs. Its open interface design supports integration with all global mobile nursing software, reducing hospital equipment testing costs.

Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Services (PIVAS)

Work Scenario:

The PIVAS (Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Services) is a medical institution established according to international standards that integrates clinical pharmacy and research. In a GMP-compliant environment designed based on drug characteristics, trained pharmaceutical technicians prepare intravenous drugs, including total parenteral nutrition, cytotoxic drugs, and antibiotics, strictly following operational procedures for clinical drug therapy and rational medication services. Handheld PDAs are used to collect barcode data from medical orders, verify liquid preparations, and check inventory. The primary users are pharmacists.

Product Advantages:

In PIVAS, the high-frequency demand for barcode scanning requires PDAs with high scanning performance. Cilico’s handheld terminals use high-performance scanners from leading international brands and combine them with self-developed, deeply optimized decoding algorithms to achieve faster scanning speeds and stronger decoding capabilities.

Medical Waste Management

Work Scenario:

RFID technology is used to collect information on various stages of medical waste handling. Through the construction of an intelligent management system, the online system monitors the entire process of medical waste management in real-time, achieving comprehensive, traceable, and closed-loop supervision.

Product Advantages:

The CM550X Android smart printing terminal which integrates RFID information collection, information processing, and label printing,  has been widely used in the intelligent management of medical waste.

Personnel Management

Infant Theft Prevention:

The infant theft prevention system uses RFID tags on both infants and mothers. Through a dedicated IoT platform, the system receives real-time RFID signals from the infant’s tag to obtain status information. If an infant is taken out of the ward without authorization, the system automatically alerts, providing good safety protection during the infant's hospitalization and improving hospital service quality.

Sign-In /Sign-Out:

When the infant needs to leave the ward for bathing, emergency care and other factors, it needs to be checked out through the handheld terminal to authorize the departure, otherwise the alarm will prompt, and the baby will be automatically checked in when it returns to the ward.

Infant Care Records:

During care, staff can use the mobile nursing handheld terminal to scan the mother’s and infant’s wristbands to perform care operations. The system records all bedside care services and can also identify the caregiver’s tag to automatically record inspection records.

Management of Individuals with Restricted Mobility:

Sign-In/Sign-Out:

When individuals need to leave restricted areas, sign-out operations must be performed using a handheld terminal. Authorization is required for departure, otherwise, an alert is triggered.

Accompanying Personnel Management:

Care Records:

During care, personnel can use the mobile nursing handheld terminal to scan wristbands and perform care operations. The system records all bedside care services and can also identify the caregiver’s tag to automatically record inspection records.

Clothing Management

RFID hospital clothing management involves installing RFID electronic tags on doctors’ and nurses’ uniforms, patient uniforms, bedding, and sheets. Using RFID fixed, handheld, and desktop readers for automatic recognition, the system manages clothing registration, inventory, issuance, collection, status inquiry, tracking, and sorting, solving the hospital’s concerns about clothing management.
